'Democracy will be damaged if  polls not held by December'

If the general election is not held by December 2025, democracy in Bangladesh will be damaged, BNP Chairperson's Adviser heroic freedom fighter Abdus Salam said.

He was addressing a review meeting on district and city units of BNP and its associate organizations under Rajshahi division in Bogura town on Thursday.

Absdus Salam said, "BNP was always on the street to establish democracy in the country and the party will not accept any kind of conspiracy over election delay as the people of Bangladesh as well as all political parties want election soon."  If the election is delayed, the fascists will come back in the country, he warned.

BNP thinks, no development is possible in the country without election and we want to cooperate with the incumbent interim government to hold a free, fair and credible election, the BNP leader said.

He urged his party men not to commit any kind of crime as BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has been struggling hard to restore lost democracy of Bangladesh and BNP wants to go to power through the mandate of people.

BNP central committee assistant organizing secretary Obaydur Rahman Chandan, President of central Krishak Dal executive committee Agriculturist Hasan Zafir Tuhin, General Secretary of central Jubo Dal executive committee Nurul Islam Nayan, Organising Secretary of central executive committee of Swechchhasebok Dal Nazmul Hasan, Vice-president of central executive committee of Chattra Dal Jahir Rayhan Ahmed, President of BNP Bogura district unit Rezaul Karim Badsha and acting general secretary of BNP Bogura district Mosharaf Hossain were present at the programme, among others.   

With Organising Secretary of BNP Rajshahi division Syed Shahin Shawkat Khaleque in the chair, Assistant Organising Secretary Amirul Islam Khan conducted the programme.
