Man held for raping housewife in Cumilla

Police arrested the key suspect in connection with the rape of a housewife in Cumilla's Nangalkot upazila on Saturday.
The arrested was identified as Imam Hossain, 24, a resident in the upazila of the district.

According to police sources, the rape incident took place in a village under the upazila where the victim was tied with iron chains and raped. The attackers also cut off her hair during the brutal assault.

Later, the victim lodged a written complaint the following day with the police station, prompting police to launch an investigation.

The allegations were deemed credible and a formal case was recorded based on preliminary findings. The case named two people, with another remaining unidentified. Imam Hossain was arrested the same night.

Confirming the matter, Nangalkot Police Station officer-in-charge Fazlul Haque said that efforts were underway to identify those accused involved in the incident. Legal action would action would be taken against them, the OC added.
