Bangladesh Navy rescues abducted easy bike driver in Matarbari

Bangladesh Navy (BN) has been conducting operations and raids in various parts of the country in order to ensure ordinary people's safety and to sustain a sound law and order situation during last several months. As part of these operations by BN officers and sailors, an abducted easy bike driver named Omar Faruque was rescued on Friday night (18 April 2025) in an unharmed condition from Darakhal Bridge area of Matarbari, according to a press release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Omar Faruque was kidnapped by a gang of 10 to 12 miscreants on Friday night at around 9 pm. The kidnappers claimed 50 thousand taka ransom from Omar Faruque's family. Acting on a confidential tip-off, members of Bangladesh Navy raided different parts of Matarbari and finally succeeded to rescue Omar Faruque from the above location at around 12:30 am at night. Police force also joined this operation.

The kidnappers all escaped as they figured out Bangladesh Navy's presence leaving Omar Faruque on the spot. Investigation is going on to detain the kidnappers on the basis of CCTV video clips, the press release concludes.
