Bangladesh interim government's Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that tough actions against concerned police officers will be taken if ousted ruling party Awami League (AL) can carry out demonstrations in future. Lt. General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury issued this statement to journalists on Saturday after inspecting the capital's Airport Police Station.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said "Police officers have been clearly instructed to restrain Awami League from bringing out rallies or agitations. If any police officer fails to comply with this order, he or she will face drastic action. We are thinking about transferring police constables to the divisions where their hometowns are located."
Lt. General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited Airport Police Station in order to do an inspection yesterday morning at 11:10 am. He visited different rooms of the police station and also inspected the canteen. Lt. General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury talked to officers and constables in that police station and gave them necessary directives and guidelines.
The Home Adviser inspected another three police stations under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Saturday which are Uttara West, Turag and Uttara East police stations.
