Depending on Trump, Xi, Modi won't work: Mirza Fakhrul

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that it would not be wise to depend just on US President Donald Trump, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping for settling down the glaring economic and political issues inside Bangladesh. "We have to work out effective ways to resolve our own predicaments. Depending on external powers to come in and solve our problems is never a good idea. We must act like the architects of our own fate and we must make the best of our efforts to rebuild Bangladesh."

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the unity that formed in Bangladesh following August 2024 should be sustained and further consolidated. The spirit of the July Uprising must be retained and fostered, he further said.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the above remarks on Saturday while addressing a view exchange meeting in the capital on leadership, empowerment, unity and growth. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed hope that he positively believes Bangladesh's overall situation will improve very soon and the country's future is going to be bright.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called upon the interim government to deal with the US tariffs very efficiently to safeguard and upgrade Bangladesh's export earnings.

He warned that being unable to properly tackle US tariffs is most likely to lead Bangladesh to troublesome complications. However, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged everyone not to lose hope.

Moreover, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir laid emphasis on working for the betterment of farmers across Bangladesh. Bangladesh's all our economic standings can't be bolstered without strongly supporting the agricultural sector, the BNP Secretary General added.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir conveyed thanks and best wishes to Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The BNP leader requested all concerned to stand by Dr. Muhammad Yunus and to cooperate with him firmly.
