A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his cousin in Cox's Bazar's Maheshkhali upazila on Wednesday. The incident happened around 11:30 AM at Monchorapara area in the upazila. The deceased was identified as Kachim Ali, son of late Nur Alam, a resident of the same village.
According to locals, Kachim's uncle Gafur Mia locked into an altercation with his neighbor Abu Toiyob over providing workers on a fishing troller. Kachim, at one point, went there and prohibited them from quarreling.
Being furious, Shakib Khan, son of Gafur, stabbed Kachim with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured on the spot. Locals rescued him from the spot and took him to Maheshkhali Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. Confirming the matter, Maheshkhali Police Station officer-in-charge Kaisar Hamid said that a team of police recovered the body and sent it to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police were trying to arrest the accused involved in the incident, the OC added.
