Vacant spaces of Farmgate, Karwanbazar metro stations to be rented out

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) is going to rent out the unused spaces of Farmgate and Karwanbazar metrorail stations for commercial use. DMTCL has already published a notice in this regard on its website.

Metrorail has 16 stations from Motijheel to Uttara. Of the stations, Farmgate and Karwanbazar are three-storied and 25000 sq ft of the two stations are not in use. For this reason, DMTCL is interesting in rent out the vacant spaces for shopping malls, shops, banks, offices or other business establishments through open competition.

According to the DMTCL website www.dmtcl.gov.bd, an initiative has been taken to rent out 25000 square feet of retail floor spaces located on the second floor of Farmgate and Karwanbazar stations of MRT Line-6.These floors will be rented out as per DMTCL's commercial space rental or lease policy 2023. Interested organizations or institutions have to collect the application form by submitting a non-refundable pay order or bank draft   worth Tk. 10000 per station in favor of DMTCL.

The notice also says the time for collecting applications has been fixed from May 4 to June one. Moreover application can be collected from Room no-731 of level-7 of the metrorail building at Uttara Diabari during office hours and the last date of submitting applications has been fixed 3pm on June 15. The rental may be similar to or higher than Bashundhara Shopping Complex or Jamuna Future Park, the notice adds.
