PPP Authority’s Divisional Conference Showcases Investment Potential in Renewable Energy and Tourism

The Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) successfully organized its Divisional Conference on 15 May 2025 at Bangladesh-China Power Company Ltd. (BCPCL) Patuakhali aiming to unlock regional investment opportunities through the PPP model.

The event brought together key stakeholders from government and industry. PPP Authority CEO (Secretary) Muhammad Rafiqul Islam attended as Chief Guest, with Divisional Commissioner Mohammed Rayhan Kaosar chairing the session and District Commissioner, Patuakhali MD Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin joining as Special Guest.

In his address, the Chief Guest highlighted the government’s readiness to offer large expanses of unused public land, especially in the southern coastal region, for renewable energy initiatives—emphasizing solar and wind potential. He also pointed to the area’s rare natural feature—locations like Kuakata where both sunrise and sunset are visible from the same point—as a unique advantage for tourism investment under PPP.

The conference reinforced the PPPA’s strategic role in enabling sustainable, inclusive development through well-structured partnerships. The Authority invited private investors of Barishal division to capitalize on streamlined processes and strong policy support to build the next generation of energy and tourism infrastructure in Bangladesh. In addition divisional and district level officers from various public departments attended the conference.
