Police vigilance strengthened to maintain law and order: DMP


Police vigilance has been strengthened in the capital to maintain law and order, said Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman in on Wednesday. "We have enhanced police vigilance in DMP areas aimed at ensuring public security and maintaining law and order," he said while briefing media to provide update of contemporary incidents at DMP media centre in the city's Mintoo Road area. 

Asked about 11-day special security directives to maintain law and order, Talebur Rahman said that the DMP is always on alert to deal with any situation. 

"If anyone tries to deteriorate law and order, it will be dealt with according to law of the land," he said. 

Responding to a question on the sudden alert, Talebur Rahman said that there is no specific reason for issuing a sudden alert.

As part of the move to enhance measures, he said the DMP has conducted 471 patrol teams in two phases in 50 police stations under the DMP to ensure public security and maintain law and order. 

Of which, 259 teams performed their duties at night and 212 teams during the day time. The patrol teams include 212 mobile patrol teams, 20 foot patrol teams and 27 motorcycle patrol teams. 

In addition, 66 police check posts were operated by DMP at various important and strategic locations to increase the security of the metropolitan area. Talebur Rahman also said that 186 people involved in various crimes were arrested from various places of Dhaka Metropolitan City by conducting 80 raids.
