54th National Cooperative Day celebrated in Dinajpur
 
The 54th National Cooperative Day was celebrated with the theme "Cooperatives will build the country through equality and equity" in Dinajpur district on Saturday. 

To mark the day, Deputy Commissioner Md Marufat Hossain and District Cooperatives Officer Md Abdus Sabur hoisted the national flag on the premises of the Deputy Commissioner's Office. 

Later, a colourful rally was brought out from the same venue, parading through various roads before returning to the DC's conference room. 
A discussion meeting was then held at the conference room. 

Speaking on the occasion, DC Md Marufat Hossain highlighted the significant role of cooperatives in building a self-reliant economy and advancing national development. 

He said the government is committed to strengthening cooperatives to make rural communities economically independent. 
According to the statistics of the district, there are a total of 1,598 cooperative societies in the district with a total number of individual members of 1,71,262, a total capital of about 281 crore 98 lakh taka and the value of the permanent and temporary assets of the society is about 115 crore 81 lakh taka. Through the good use of this huge population and resources, it is possible to play a role in achieving socio-economic prosperity of the country.

Dinajpur City Social Services Officer Md. Mainul Islam, Dinajpur Water Development Board Sub-Divisional Engineer Md. Siddiqur Jjaman, Additional Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md. Anisuzzaman, among others, were present on the occasion.

At the end of the programme, awards were distributed among successful cooperative organizations in recognition of their contributions.
