Italian Ambassador in Dhaka Antonio Alessandro has said that business atmosphere in Bangladesh is still not fit for foreign investment. He further said that rising numbers of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh are one of the reasons for this phenomenon.
Antonio Alessandro made the above comments while addressing a discussion program in the capital's Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) on Monday.
Speakers from different domains and professional backgrounds joined the view exchange event. A research paper on the current status of Bangladesh-Italy bilateral ties was presented at the beginning of the program. Antonio Alessandro stated that Bangladesh interim government's efforts are praiseworthy in improving all out circumstances. He expressed hope that the initiatives to attract foreign direct investment will be continued by the authorities concerned in Bangladesh. Rule of law and good governance are vital for bringing about foreign direct investment, Antonio Alessandro remarked.
