Bangladesh Jamaat-E-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that people and parties who do not recognize July Revolution will not be allowed to participate in next elections. He further said that a legal basis for July Charter is mandatory before elections. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated that no polls will be held in Bangladesh without legalizing July Charter as soon as possible. He asserted that the legal foundation of July Charter must be ensured before announcing election schedule.

Jamaat Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated the above points while addressing a huge rally in the capital's Paltan in which Jamaat-E-Islami, Islami Andolon Bangladesh and Khelafat Majlish joined on Tuesday. Total eight Islamic political parties participated in yesterday's rally. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said "All patriotic masses across Bangladesh want a referendum to be organized before national elections. We don't understand why the Election Commission is taking so long to announce the referendum date!"

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman told the audiences that all parties signed the July Charter. July Charter will be the basis of elections and the future of Bangladesh, he added. A strong legal basis for July Charter is required to establish socioeconomic justice and equal rights in Bangladesh, the Jamaat Amir affirmed.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman urged the interim government as well as the Election Commission to hold a referendum smoothly in November 2025 so that the February 2026 elections are held in a free and fair way. He underlined the fact that conspirators are around to baffle elections and democratic transition in Bangladesh. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman further said that paying honour to July Revolution martyrs is not possible without legally fortifying the July Charter immediately.
