Al Mahmud Bijoy ,RU Correspondent: A total of 2,72,625 students have applied for admission to the first-year undergraduate (honours) programmes at Rajshahi University (RU) for the 2025–26 academic session. The application deadline ended at 11:59pm on December 7, according to RU ICT Centre Director Prof Md Saiful Islam.
Applications opened on November 20 at noon and continued for 18 days. “The deadline is now over. No further applications will be accepted,” Prof Saiful told on Tuesday morning.
This year, students submitted applications across three units: A Unit (Humanities): 1,11,514 applications, B Unit (Business Studies): 30,886 applications, Commerce background: 18,452, Non-commerce background: 12,434, C Unit (Science): 1,26,225 applications, Science background: 1,20,838, Non-science: 5,387.
The university will begin the admission tests with the C Unit on January 16, followed by the A Unit on January 17 and the B Unit on January 24.
For the first time, there will be no selection (shortlisting) process, allowing all applicants to sit for the exams. Tests will be held in two shifts each day — from 11:00am to 12:00pm and from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.
The examinations will take place not only at Rajshahi University but also on the campuses of public universities across Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Rangpur and Barishal divisions, aiming to ease travel pressure for candidates.
Rajshahi University is one of the country’s largest public universities, and the high number of applicants reflects its continued appeal to students across Bangladesh.
