Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) observed Martyred Intellectuals Day 2025 with due respect and solemnity honoring the nation's finest sons who were brutally martyred on 14 December 1971 during the final phase of the Great War of Liberation.
The day-long observance began on Sunday morning with the national flag being flown at half-mast across the university campus.A black flag was also hoisted at the 36th July Chattar as a symbolic expression of national grief and sorrow. To mark the occasion, a colorful rally was brought which paraded around the campus and concluded at the Central Shaheed Minar, where the Vice-Chancellor paid floral tributes on behalf of the university.
GAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman presided over the program. Deans, directors, teachers, students, officers and employees of the university took part in the rally. Following the tribute ceremony, a brief meaningful discussion session was held at the Shaheed Minar, moderated by Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Raihan, Director (Student Welfare).
The session was addressed by the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M Moynul Haque, Treasurer Professor Dr Md Safiul Islam Afrad, President of the Teachers' Association Professor Dr Md Abu Ashraf Khan, General Secretary Professor Dr Md Moshiul Islam, Registrar Md Abdullah Mridha and Assistant Registrar (Law and State) Abu Hanif Palowan.
At the discussion, speakers emphasized that the sacrifice of the martyred intellectuals remains an unparalleled chapter in national history and continues to inspire future generations with the values of patriotism, humanity and moral courage.
They urged everyone to remain vigilant so that the spirit of this sacrifice is never undermined.
