The US Embassy, Dhaka has advised all United States citizens living across Bangladesh to avoid crowded places in Bangladesh while the nation is going to vote in elections within less than two months. The US Embassy has warned Americans that apparently peaceful political programs or mass gatherings can at any moment turn out to be violent. The US Embassy voiced concern that violence may break out anywhere and anytime urging all US citizens currently residing in Bangladesh to follow safety measures very carefully.
The US Embassy located in Dhaka issued the above warning on Monday. According to the US Embassy, the Bangladesh Election Commission has declared the referendum and the general elections to be held on 12 February 2026. Demonstrations and political rallies will be held frequently ahead of elections, the US Embassy stated.
All US citizens have been requested to keep away from rallies and protests in all parts of Bangladesh to avoid undesirable circumstances. US citizens also have been advised to keep sharp eyes on news outlets to stay updated about latest situation in Bangladesh.
