Shayan, a student of United School and College in Araihazar, Narayanganj, has emerged as the regional champion in the junior category of the Bangladesh Math Olympiad, bringing pride to his institution and district.
Organised jointly by Dutch-Bangla Bank and Prothom Alo, the Olympiad is one of the country's most prestigious academic competitions for school students. Shayan first qualified through the online preliminary round held on December 26 and later competed in the regional round on January 24 in Dhaka.
Students from Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Manikganj and Narsingdi districts took part in the regional contest. Out of 142 shortlisted participants in the junior category, Shayan secured the top position, earning a place in the national round of the competition.
Teachers and classmates at United School and College expressed their joy over his achievement, saying it reflects his dedication, strong interest in mathematics and consistent academic effort.
"I want to perform even better at the national level and make my school and district proud," Shayan said. School authorities and family members congratulated him and wished him success in the upcoming national phase.
