Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to complete 12,000 runs in List A cricket as he smashed a whirlwind century in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL).

Mushfiqur reached the landmark during Mohammedan Sporting Club's match against Gazi Group Cricketers at BKSP-2, which went to reserve day after the rain interrupted the game.

However, thanks to the batter's record-breaking century, Mohammedan secured 47 runs victory over Gazi Group today on DLS method.

The experienced batter blasted a 55-ball 100, hitting eight fours and six sixes, before being dismissed exactly on the century mark. The innings also marked the 16th List A century of his career.

Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited maintained their march toward the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) title with expected victories in the ninth round of the competition.

His team Mohammedan are firmly at the top of the table with 16 points by winning eight matches out of nine, while reigning champions Abahani stayed close behind on 14 points as they registered seven victories from same number of matches.

If both teams win their respective matches in the 10th round, the title race could effectively be decided when the two traditional rivals meet in the 11th round.

Rain later reduced Abahani's chase to 163 runs in 20 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. Abahani reached the target with three wickets in hand and seven balls to spare.
