JUST again tops among science and technology universities in THE ranking
Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has once again secured the top position among Bangladesh's science and technology universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, placing in the 1,001-1,200 band globally.
The 2027 edition of the global university rankings, published by the UK-based Times Higher Education, was released on the organisation's website on Wednesday (September 30). A total of 25 universities from Bangladesh have been included in this year's ranking, with all of them placed in bands above 800. The ranking evaluates universities based on a range of indicators, including the teaching and research environment, research quality, research influence and international outlook.
According to the published ranking, among Bangladeshi universities placed in the 801-1,000 band, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) ranked first, followed by Daffodil International University, Jahangirnagar University and North South University.
In the 1,001-1,200 band, Bangladesh Agricultural University ranked fifth among Bangladeshi universities, followed by Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in sixth, BRAC University in seventh, Gazipur Agricultural University in eighth, International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) in ninth, and Jashore University of Science and Technology in tenth.
JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Faruq Hasan expressed his happiness and pride over the university's achievement. "We are extremely happy and proud that JUST has secured the top position among science and technology universities across the country. This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of our teachers, students, officers and employees," he said. He added that disciplined financial management, transparency and accountability had also played an important role in the university's overall progress. "This success has increased our responsibility further. In the future, we will continue working to advance JUST by ensuring greater efficiency and transparency in education, research and financial management," he said.
JUST Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sk. Mahmudul Hasan said the achievement was an important recognition of the university's academic and research-oriented progress. "This achievement reflects the continued excellence of JUST teachers and students in research, innovation and academic activities. We will continue working to expand the scope of research, encourage new innovations and further strengthen JUST's position at the international level," he said.
JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yearul Kabir also expressed his pride over the achievement. "We are extremely proud and delighted that JUST has secured the top position among science and technology universities in the country. This achievement does not belong to any individual or department; rather, it is the result of the collective efforts of the entire JUST family, including teachers, students, officers and employees," he said. "We want JUST to achieve an even stronger position nationally and internationally in the future. Achieving this goal requires the sincere cooperation and collective efforts of everyone in the university community. I hope that we can all work together to take the university forward," he added.
It may be noted that JUST was placed in the 1,001-2,000 band in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. In the latest ranking, the university has moved into the narrower 1,001-1,200 band while retaining its top position among Bangladesh's science and technology universities.
