Former Chief Justice M M Ruhul Amin died of heart diseases at a hospital in Singapore early Tuesday. He was 74. Additional Registrar of the High Court Division, Sabbir Foyez, said the former chief justice had been suffering from heart diseases and underwent treatment at a hospital Singapore after a surgery. He breathed his last early in the morning yesterday.
MM Ruhul Amin was appointed as the Chief Justice on June 1, 2008. He has been serving as the chairman of Bangladesh Judicial Service Commi-ssion since 2004. Born in Laxmipur on December 23, 1942, MM Ruhul Amin earned a masters degree in history in 1963 and completed LLB in 1966 from Dhaka University. He joined the judicial service in 1967 and became a district judge in 1984. Before his promotion as an HC judge, he worked as a District and Sessions judge in four districts.
