The month-long 25th Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) is going to begin today at Railway Polo ground like every year.  A total of 450 companies are participating at the CITF 2017, according to sources.
Minister for Industries Amir Hossain Amu will attend the inaugural ceremony as chief guest while the mayor of Chittagong City Corporation A J M Nasir Uddin, Acting President of FBCCI Mohammad Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin  will be present as special guests at the  inaugural ceremony.

The month long fair CITF is organized by Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI). All preparations for the 25th CITF were completed.  CCCI President Mahabubul Alam at a press conference on Saturday said the businessmen of Chittagong as well as from all other parts of the country will get a chance to exhibit their products at CITF.

He said, Chittagong Chamber will observe the two eras of  CITF this year. "We had started the CITF at outer stadium 25 years ago. Now, the CITF has passed its 25 years in this year. All preparations for the 25th CITF have already been completed." 

Apart from security companies, a huge number of police force would be patrolling the fair premises. A temporary police camp has been set up. The visitors would be examined with metal detectors at the entry points.  Addressing the press conference Mahabubul Alam stressed on transit facilities for the neighboring countries like India, China and Myanmar. He urged the government to fix up a permanent venue for CITF.

Co- chairman of the CITF' Sayed Jamal Ahmed disclosed that the ticket prices have been fixed at Tk 10 and Tk 5 for the adults and children respectively.

Among others, Senior Vice President and Chairman of CITF 2017  Nurun Newaj Selim, Co-Chairman Mahafujul Haque Shah and Majharul Islam Chowdhury directors of CCCI Jahirul Islam Alamgir, A K M Akter Hossain and Ohid Seraj Swapon also addressed the press conference.

The CCCI sources said, the royal Thailand is participating in CITF as partner country for 15th times. One of the main characteristics of this year's fair is Thailand's participation as a partner country. The air-conditioned Thailand pavilion would comprise 25 booths.

A total of five foreign countries India, Thailand, China and Iran are taking part in the fair. Different foreign countries and leading companies of those countries will participate in the fair. Besides, the local leading companies of the country will take part in the trade fair with total 37 pavilions. Of these 16 are Premier Gold Pavilions, 5 Premier pavilions, 8 mini mega pavilions, 10 standard pavilions, 16 premier booths, 14 standard booths and IT booths.

Besides, female industrial zone, covered zone for Information Technology (IT), children world for kids entertainment in the premises of the fair will be set up to make the fair colourful and attractive for both visitors and the participants.
