Rights activists protested government's initiative to review the (Bangladesh Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan-2009) BCCSAP with the help of foreign experts. They demanded to review the BCCSAP by appointing internationally recognized local consultants following inclusive process.
Thirty rights based organizations came up with the demand while addressing a joint press conference at Jatiya Press Club in the capital yesterday. Syed Aminul Hoque of EquityBD, in his keynote, said: "So called foreign experts, who have no experience on country's climate context, peoples' demand and future government's strategies in this regard, are being involved in this review process as a condition of donor financial support." "This is why we are worried that their inclusion with this review process will hamper the country's interest," he said.
