Indian envoy handed over relief and rescued Mora victims

Indian envoys have handed over relief materials and MORA-victims rescued from the Bay of Bengal to Bangladesh yesterday. The High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Horsho Bordhopn Sringla handed over relief materials for the cyclone MORA affected people of Bangladesh at the Jetty number 5 of Chittagong port yesterday morning.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong Mohammed Zillur Rahman Chowdhury received the relief materials on behalf of the government of Bangladesh.  The team of Indian Navy boarded on INS Sumitra rescued a total of 34 fishermen from the deep sea area of Bay of Bengal at offshore island Moheshkhali. Of the rescued persons, one died.
The INS Sumitra has handed over the dead body and rest 33 victims rescued alive to the Bangladesh administration on the occasion.

While addressing the function, High Commissioner Horsho Bordhopn Sringla said India would always remain by the side of Bangladesh in any natural disaster.  "The Indian government has sent relief materials for the cyclone MORA-affected people as a token of friendship and love. We will send more relief materials for the cyclone-affected people," he added. Horsho Bordhon went on saying, "One ship has reached the Chittagong port with relief materials for the cyclone-hit people today. One more is ready to start for Bangladesh with relief, which will reach Chittagong port within next three days."

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong Mohammed Zillur Rahman Chowdhury, acknowledging the handing over of the relief materials and rescued persons and the dead body informed The Asian Age that he had by then sent the alive 33 rescued persons to Chittagong Medical College Hosp[ital for treatment as they were very injured.

"After their treatment, the administration will take necessary steps to send them to their homes. Most of the injured victims have told us that they hailed from Moheshkhali sowe will send them to their homes after verifying their address," he said.

Mohammed Zillur Rahman Chowdhury also said, "The relief materials are unloading from the INS Sumitra now. After the unloading is completed, we can confirm the quantity of relief materials. Presently, we have been informed that there are tents, medicine and dry foods." Commanding Officer of INS Sumitra S P Srishan said, "We are very happy to save the lives of 33 people of Bangladesh."

Among other, Assistant High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Shomnath Haldar, Commanding Officer of BNS Isha Khan Commodore Mohammed Musa, Commanding Officer of INS Sumitra S P Srishan, Member (Engineering) Captain Julfikar Aziz, Secretary of CPA Mohammed Omar Faruk, Director (Security) of CPA Lt Colonel Abdul Gaffar, Director (Transport) Golam Sarwar, Additional District Magistrate of Chittagong Mohammed Mominur Rashid, Additional DC Moahmmed Moksudur Rahman Sikdar, Executive Magistrate of Chittagong Shankar Kumar Biswas  and top officials were also present there.
