Heavy rain in Ctg region warns of more landslides

Predicting squally weather conditions, the Met office has flagged local cautionary signal No. 3 for maritime ports in Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla..

It forecasts heavy rains in the Chittagong Division on Wednesday and warned of further landslides.

Torrential rains since Sunday night, triggered by a low in the Bay of Bengal, have caused landslides in Bangladesh's hill districts leaving as many as 133 people dead.

At 10am on Wednesday, the death toll from the landslides stood at 98 in Rangamati, 29 in Chittagong and 6 in Bandarban, according to the disaster management ministry.

Another four deaths were reported on Wednesday morning in landslides in Cox's Bazar and Khagrachhari.

Six others have been killed in Chittagong by felled trees, collapsed walls and flooding.
