MA Mumin, an established industrialist, social worker and Founder Member of the Board of Trustees of East West University (EWU) breathed his last at BIRDEM Hospital in Dhaka on July 14 due to cardiac arrest. He was 76. He left behind his spouse, two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

All members of East West University family expressed their deep condolences at his death and prayed to the Almighty for the peace of the departed soul. MA Mumin was elected a Vice Chairman of FBCCI in 1999.  He was also a member of the DSE.  His first namaz-e-janaza was held on 14 July 2017 at 11:30 pm at the university premises at Aftab Nagar, Dhaka.

Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit, Member of the Board of Trustees, EWU, HN Ashequr Rahman, MP, Vice Chancellor of EWU Prof MM Shahidul Hassan, among others, attended the janaza. Mumin's second namaz-e-janaza was held on 15 July at Hazrat Sahjalal (RA) Dargah in Sylhet and he was laid to rest at the Dargah graveyard.
