NGOs oppose micro finance service charge cut

Nine Micro Finance Institutions (MFI), at a joint press conference yesterday, urged the government to halt the process of further reduction of micro finance service charge. They said reduction of micro finance service charge would threat the existence of 505 MFIs who constitute 77% of country's NGO sector.

On behalf of the organizers, Tarik Sayed  Harun of COAST read out the written statement. Mujibul Haque Faruqi of AUP Dhaka said that as government other agencies increased salaries, he had to up the salaries of his staff. The government should consider increasing the service charge.
