Government policy should prioritize and promote eco-village development to achieve the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Adaptation of eco-village development is needed to be stressed as one of their core strategies of low carbon development, civil society organizations noted.
They recommendation were put forward at a workshop titled 'Evidence Based Advocacy for Low Carbon, Pro-Poor Sustainable Eco-Village Development (EVD)' yesterday.
In the keynotes, Santosh Patnaik of Climate Action Network South Asia said the eco-village included the simple solution of implementing solar energy, improve stove, rain water harvesting and organic or non-pesticide agriculture through community participation. Syed Aminul Hoque of EquityBD moderated the program while Dr Atiq Rahaman of BCAS and Salima Jahan participated as guests.
