Muggers in guise of DB snatch Tk 40 lakh


Muggers impersonating as members of Detective Brach (DB) snatched Tk 40lakh at Uttara yesterday. They also beat up the victims including a RMG official. They were thrown away at Kuril Biswa Road afterwards.

The RMG official Russel Haolader said they were attacked at around 2:00pm at Uttara Sector 1, Road 12. His office Tokyo Mode is located in the area and he was to pay the worker on the day.

He, along with the accountant Sayed Mahmod Al Firoz went to Uttara Dhaka Bank branch. The duo was returning to office by a microbus after withdrawing the money. Five to six men appeared while the vehicle was trapped in traffic congestion.

"They were carrying Wakie Talkis, handcuff and revolver and claimed there are illegal goods inside the microbus," said Russel adding, "They managed to get into the microbus and handcuffed them."

While driven to Kuril, they beat up the duo and snatched the valuables along with the money. They took another car waiting at Kuril.

Meantime, the CCTV footage showed one of the looters, said Russell adding, "We were being followed from the very beginning." Airport police OC Nure Azam Mia said a case was filed in this regard.
