Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) will open its first branch in Chittagong. "A proposal to install a branch of PIB in Chittagong will be placed to the government before next budget," PIB director general Shah Mohammad Alamgir told the concluding session of a three-day training program.
PIB and Chittagong Press Club (CPC) jointly organized the training program for the journalists on investigative reporting at the CPC auditorium. Mohammad Alamgir said PIB is running by a regulation of 1974 and it will set up its branch in Chittagong following the regulation.
The PIB director general said the training program for journalists will be organized at upazila level to enhance their skills and competency.
Chaired by CPC president Kolim Sarwar, the concluding session of the program was addressed, among others, by former chairman of the Commu-nication and Journalism Department of Chittagong University Ali R Razi, Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) president Reaz Hayder Chowdhury, CUJ general secretary Mohammad Ali, CPC general secretary Shuklal Das, BFUJ joint secretary General Tapan Chakroborti and CPC joint secretary Chowdhury Farid.
