Music of the roots to sway Dhaka

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre is organizing an 'Evening of Folk songs by Bonhishikha' at Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, Dhaka, at 6.00 PM on 9 December, 2017."Bonhishikha" is a reputed cultural organization of Bangladesh. The group of singers performs popular folk songs and dances which are highly appreciated both in Bangladesh and India.

In the last twelve years, Bonhishikha has organized many cultural festivals in which, besides Bangladeshi artists, popular singers and dance groups from West Bengal, Assam and Tripura have also performed. Bonhishikha organizes a colorful festival in Dhaka every two years, the `Sachin Dev Berman Songeet Utsob'.  Recently, Bonhishikha celebrated its 12th Founding Anniversary, in which `Sangeet Satra', a renowned dance group from Guwahati, Assam, led by Nrityaguru Ranjumoni Saikia, participated.

The group of thirteen singers will be led by Ms. Abida Rahman Setu, Music Director and Chief Vocal Artist of Bonhishikha. Abida is a senior vocal artist of Bangladesh Shilpakala academy and a Music Trainer at Bangladesh Shishu Academy. She is an enlisted artist of Bangladesh Television & Bangladesh Betar.
