Mymensingh emerges as the champions of the national Under-14 women's championship 2017 for the third straight time this year in style. The district from central north of Bangladesh yet again took the title with almost the entire team from the already famous Kalashindur village, which has already produced some of the sensations women's football, source BFF (Bangladesh Football Federation) online.
On the other hand, Thakurgaon was powered by the talents of Rangatungi village aspiring for their first title. The exciting final had a scoreline of 3-0 on November 10 for Mymensingh but not without promises of yet another powerhouse emerging from the far north of Thakurgaon's deep interior. The matches of the tournament were showcased around six venues across the country - Lakshmipur, Gaibandha, Rajbari, Jessore, Rajshahi and Sherpur.
The preliminary round of the tournament which ended on August 25 saw 6 teams emerging as zonal champions. Those 6 teams and 2 best runners-up teams were part of the final round which started on November 2 . These included Thakurgaon, Rajshahi, Comilla, Rajbari, Satkhira, Mymensingh, Tangail and Manikganj.
On their way to the final, Thakurgaon defeated Tangail in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. On the other hand, Mymensingh booked their way by clinching a dominating victory over Rajshahi with 4-0. Mymensingh arrived at the final as the favorites.
