High Court on Thursday issued a stay order on the removal of NRB Commer-cial Bank's Managing Director Dewan Mujibur Rahman. A bench consisting of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Hussain and Justice Ataur Rahman Khan has issued this order according to relevant sources.
Reportedly Bangladesh Bank removed Dewan Mujibur Rahman from the Managing Director post of NRB Commercial Bank on 5th December (Tuesday). As a result Dewan Mujibur Rahman filed a writ petition at High Court against this decision by Bangladesh Bank. Following the writ petition, High Court has stayed Bangladesh Bank's move to dislodge Dewan Mujibur Rahman from NRB Commercial Bank's Managing Director echelon.
Advocate Hamida Chowdhury pleaded on behalf of Dewan Mujibur Rahman during the writ petition's hearing.NRB Commercial Bank is one of the nine commercial banks which were licensed during 2013. Its founder chairman Farasat Ali used to be Awami League's president in USA once upon a time.
Dewan Mujibur Rahman joined NRB Commercial Bank as its Managing Director at the time of the bank's inception. Earlier on he had held different positions in Basic Bank, Janata Bank, Karmasangsthan Bank and Mercantile Bank.
