Fog disrupts ferry services -The Asian Age

Ferry operators have suspended services on the Padma River to avert accidents amid dense fog.

The services were called off on the Daulatdia-Paturia route around 4am Thursday, said Abu Abdullah, assistant manager of the terminal.

One ferry is stranded in the middle of the river while about 300 vehicles are waiting on both sides, according to Abdullah.

Similar scenes were reported from the Shimulia-Kathalbari route.

Dense fog engulfed the river around 2:30am. “We have suspended ferry services due to low visibility,” said Abdus Salam, manager of BIWTC at Shimulia terminal.

Three vessels loaded with vehicles had been stranded in the river while around 150 vehicles were waiting at the terminals, he told media.
