Shada Kalmi is basically a hill flower. One sees them in Bandarban, Ranganati, Khagrachhari of Chittagong Hill Tracts and in some elevated areas of Shylhet. It is a creeper type of plant and survives like a bush by rounding itself around another tree.
It has green leaves and beautiful five petalled white flowers which look somewhat like a tall microphone. Shada kalmi flowers blossom during the months of March and April. The flowers do not have much of a smell. The plant grows from seeds. They juice of its leaves is applied to heal an injury made by a cut. Its seeds are also used for various medicinal purposes.
