Mimicry artiste Nerella Venumadhav dies -The Asian Age


Noted mimicry artiste Nerella Venumadhav died here after a brief illness at his home in Mattewada in Warangal city. He was 85 and is survived by wife, two daughters, and two sons.

Venumadhav served as MLC in 1971 in undivided Andhra Pradesh. He rose to international fame after his enthralling performance at the United Nations. He was conferred scores of awards, including the Padma Shri in 2001.

A veteran mimicry artiste, Venumadhav, was born on December 28, 1932 in Mattewada, Warangal. He began his passion - mimicry - at the age of 15. Over the years, he mastered the art and inspired scores of people to take up the art form. He was instrumental in introduction of a course in mimicry in several institutions including the Telugu University.

Venumadhav was recently felicitated by the Telangana government on State formation day on June 2.Public representatives and people from different walks of life condoled his death.
