Photo storytelling exhibition held at NDUB -The Asian Age


Notre Dame University Bangladesh English Club (NDUBEC) organized a photo storytelling and creative writing excursion to Kakran village of Dhamrai for the students to capture visuals of the pottery culture and crafts on November 24, 2018. Students came up with various photographic artworks which have been exhibited at NDUB campus on December 3-4, 2018 themed on celebrating Human Rights Day which is on December 10, 2018.

In photographic practice, visual storytelling is often called a 'photo essay' or 'photo story'. It's a way for a photographer to narrate a story with a series of photographs or a single photograph. Photographs at NDUB were pasted on canvas with a poesy text and painted designs. Experimental art has been put into practice in the structure of presenting the frames and photographs. 

A prize giving ceremony held at 2pm on Tuesday where Vice Chancellor of NDUB Professor Dr. Fr. Patrick D. Gaffney, CSC, was the chief guest, and Registrar of NDUB Fr. Adam S Pereira, CSC was the special guest. Based on the voting by the students, the 1st prize has been awarded to H M Morsalin Bikash for his photo-art titled 'Biological Hierarchy'.

The text was written by Arnab Bhattacharjee, and the canvas was painted by Rasel Ahmed, Josephina Benedicta, and Saifuddin Al Quaderi. The 2nd prize is received by Simanto Barua for 'Diversity & Devotion', where the text is written by Arnab Bhattacharjee, and canvas is designed by Tahsin Sadia, and Sadia Hashim.


VC Prof. Dr. Fr. Patrick D. Gaffney shared, "The visuals and texts are wonderful projection of creative endeavour by the students where various humanistic themes have got place suggesting how youth are aware of human rights, and certainly they are developing their aesthetic critical skills."

Registrar Fr Adam concluded the event with certificate giving ceremony for the former executives. The event was organized by the NDUB English Club moderator and co-moderator Habiba Akter and Ahmed Tahsin Shams who are also the lecturers at the department of English in NDUB.

The other photo-artworks which have been exhibited are --- 'No More De-Mock-Crazy!' by H M Morsalin Bikash, 'Past_Present_Future' by Suvendra Tewari, 'War of Coins' by Suvendra Tewari, '3 Wishes' and 'Let's Grow Old Together' Malesa Jessy, 'Capitalism', 'Odd Man Out', 'Caged' by Simanto Barua, and 'Flames of Freedom' Arnab Bhattacharjee.
