Amid Dhaka University's initiative for holding Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) polls, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has discarded the allegations raised by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders regarding coexistence at the campus.
BCL DU unit president Sanjit Chandra Das said they would inspire JCD to participate in the polls. Regarding the political coexistence, Das said, "I think political coexistence is exists in the campus. Everyone will be welcomed in the election if they don't make any unrest."
However, JCD General Secretary Abul Bashar Siddique urged the authorities for coexistence and said they would participate in the polls if the university authorities ensure that.
The student leaders appeared before the press yesterday after taking part in a discussion with teachers from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the conference room of the university's Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building. JCD representatives were escorted to the meeting with the by the proctorial team led by the proctor AKM Golam Rabbani.
The pre-scheduled meeting was held regarding the amendment of the existing DUCSU constitution and extended the deadline till January 14.
Professor Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, chief of the five-member committee told the press about the deadline after the meeting with student bodies. Representatives from Bangladesh Student Federation (DU) also took part in the discussion.
