Minority rights defenders and community leaders have demanded introduction of special quota system to ensure their representation in the House - preserving their existence and for the sake of democratization.
Bangladesh Hindu Mohajote made the call at a press conference at the JPC yesterday. Incidents like assaults on minorities, looting, arson attacks, demand of extortion and threatening to leave the country are on the rise. The organization demanded reserved seats in the House. Their other demands were -- establishing minority commission and appointing a full minister from religious minorities.
Executive president of the organization Advocate Dinbandhu roy, Gabinda Chandra Pramanik and Uttam Das were present, among others, at the press conference.
