Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said that the business community of Bangladesh is happy with the new value added tax (VAT) law. There are no more misperceptions among the businessmen about this law, he further said. In the upcoming budget VAT on different products will be reduced, he added.
AHM Mustafa Kamal made these remarks on Tuesday while speaking to higher officials of National Board of Revenue (NBR) and business leaders from Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) at the conference room of Finance Ministry in the capital's Sher-E-Bangla Nagar.
AHM Mustafa Kamal said that the government is committed to sustain a business-friendly environment all over Bangladesh. Businessmen play vital roles for the economic progress of the country. For this reason the government does not want to increase the burden of businessmen with new taxes.
FBCCI leaders including Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin and Sheikh Fazle Fahim told during the meeting that Bangladesh belongs to all its citizens and everyone should do their duty to the state with devotion and patriotism. NBR Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said that the VAT law can be further modified with the passage of time in case of problems.
