Two city corporations have negligence: HC -The Asian Age

The High Court (HC) said that the two Dhaka City Corporation officials have negligence over cubing dust pollution, mosquito menace and waterlogging  "Why there is lack of coordination while you implement development works? You dig up at places. So that coordination is a must. Apart from, you must ensure the civic facilities and take necessary steps to solve sewage management, waterlogging and mosquito menace issues," said the HC.

The HC also sought a report on effective steps taken to curb pollution and pre-monsoon mosquito control by June 26. The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the observation and order while hearing a rule issued earlier by this court for preventing pollution in Dhaka city.

During the hearing, chief executive officers (CEO) of Dhaka South City Corporation Mustafizur Rahman and North City Corporation Md Abdul Hye appeared before the court. They submitted two separate reports to the HC on the steps to prevent air pollution in the city. The court said their reports are ambiguous and dissatisfactory and ordered them to submit reports further specifying the measure they have taken to this effect in detail to this court by June 23.

The HC said: "Monsoon is at the door. Numerous areas of the capital go under knee deep water even after a brief shower and mosquito menace also goes up. Take necessary and effective measures."      "The people are paying tax and these are their rights. You have to ensure it breaking free the irregularities and barriers," said the court addressing the city corporation high-ups.
