Chief of Army Staff (CAS) General Aziz Ahmed left Dhaka for Hawaii on yesterday on a five-day visit to the United States. He will be visiting the USA at the invitation of US Army Pacific Commander General Robert B. Brown.
The Army Chief will take part in the Land Forces of the Pacific Symposium and Exposition (LANPAC 2019), which will be held at Honolulu in the Hawaii state, said an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.
The theme of the symposium is "A Free and Open Indo-Pacific: Innovative and Agile Land Forces" where contemporary issues of the Indo-Pacific region and future plans will be discussed.
Besides, the Army Chief will take part in a panel discussion attended by top military officials from different countries and will present his speech on the theme "Land Forces Increased Interoperability with Allies and Partner" as one of key speakers.
General Aziz had performed as the Military Assistant to the Force Commander of the UN peacekeeping mission UNMIS in Sudan in 2005-06. He gathered knowledge of working with the representatives of more than 50 countries. General Aziz was given special invitation to attend the LANPAC 2019 to highlight the knowledge he gathered in UNMIS of Sudan.
The Army chief will exchange views with the top military officials of the participating countries. He is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the US Army Pacific Commander General Robert B. Brown on May 22.
