'Shonibar Bikel' participates in Sydney Film Festival -The Asian Age

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's unreleased film 'Shonibar Bikel' is participating in the ongoing 12-day Sydney Film Festival in Australia. The film will be screened on June 10 and 13 at 2:00pm and 8:00pm respectively at Dandi Opera Cinema Hall in Sydney.

Sydney Film Festival commenced on June 5. Around 250 films from across the world are being screened at the event. Director of 'Shonibar Bikel' Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha will attend the festival, which will continue till June 16.

Bangladesh Film Censor Board earlier banned the film's release, both at home and abroad, after watching it twice on the grounds that the film will tarnish the country's reputation. According to an AFP report, the title of the film translates to 'Saturday Afternoon' and dramatizes the July 2016 attack on an upmarket cafe by extremists, who killed 22 of their hostages, including 18 foreigners.

'Shonibar Bikel' has been produced by Jaaz Multimedia and Chabial. Anna Katchko of Tandem Productions (Germany) serves as the co-producer. The film stars Zahid Hasan, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, popular Indian actor Parambrata Chatterjee and others.
