The day-long rain inundated different areas of the capital on Monday, causing severe traffic congestion on various roads.The areas which saw water logging include Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Dhanmondi and Dholaikhal. People in the Farmgate area were seen treading the flooded roads with discontent. However, rickshaw pullers cashed in on the passenger plight, as they charged them Tk 30-40 per person for water crossing.
Meteorologist Ruhul Kuddus said due to the active monsoon winds, the country will see rain in the upcoming days.A Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) bulletin yesterday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in many parts of the country.
"Due to active monsoon over Bangladesh heavy (44-88 mm) to very heavy (89 mm) rainfall is likely to occur at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Barishal and Chattogram divisions during next 24 hrs commencing 10:00 am today ( 08 July 2019)," it read. "Also, very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong division," it warned.
