District Family Planning Office, Chattogram observes World Population Day with rally, discussion and other activities on Thursday.
Earlier, the rally marking the 'World Population Day' started from Circuit House Premises ended at Zilla Shilpakala Academy, Chittagong. After that a discussion meeting was held at conference hall in Zilla Shilpakala Academy.
ADC (Development), Md Nurul Alam Nizami was the chief guest of the event. Assistant Director. District Family Planning Office, Chattogram Dr U khya win delivered the welcome speech at the discussion.
Speakers said, 'Planned family ensures the basic needs of the family members as well as it plays vital role in building better nation. Prerequisite to development is planned family. Family planning is the only key to development as family is a micro institution of the state.'
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Assistant Director, Health Division, Dr Abdus Salam, Deputy Civil Surgeon, Dr Tayab Ali also delivered speech at discussion. Consultant, Family Planning, Chattogram, Dr Seheli Nargis conducted the event. Delegates of the event emphasized on proper family planning and upbringing process of our future generation.
Among others, Chairman, Raozan Upazila, A K M Ehsanul Hayder Bablu, Chairman, Bairag union, Mohammad Solaiman, Admin of MAMATA (local NGO) MM Ershad, Manager of UJJIBON Md Foyez Kawsar and Divisional Manager, Pathfinder, Seikh Nazrul Islam was present at the event.
World Population day is an annual event, observed on July 11 every year, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues. The event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Program in 1989.
