Malaysia detains 266 undocumented Bangladeshis -The Asian Age


The Malaysian immigration department arrested at least 266 Bangladeshis on Sunday as part of their ongoing crackdown on undocumented migrant workers, said Bangladesh High Commission officials in Kuala Lumpur.According to the Malaysian immigration department's report posted on the Facebook the crackdown is on in Kotaraya, Jalan Silang and Pudu Sentralbus. 

Bangladesh High Commission's labor councilor Zahirul Islam on Monday told media that the Bangladesh mission was not aware that 266 Bangladeshis had been arrested. According to Malaysian newspapers reports the immigration police arrested at least 5,272 undocumented Bangladeshi workers between January and June.

It is mentionable that over eight lakh Bangladeshis are working in Malaysia, said Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training officials.
