Tigresses level ODI series -The Asian Age


Bangladesh women's cricket team batsman Fargana Hoque's brilliant fighting knock help his team to secure a thrilling one-wicket victory over Pakistan in the second and final ODI of a two-match ODI series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Monday.

Fargana smashed match winning 67 off 97 hitting six fours while Murshida made 44 off 67 balls, featuring six fours. Tigresses level the ODI series 1-1 after whitewashed in the three-match T20 series 0-3.

Earlier, Bangladesh made a frustrating start in the ODI series losing to hosts Pakistan by 29-run in the first match at the same venue in Lahore last Saturday. In the day's second ODI, Pakistan elected to bat first after winning the toss and were all out for 210 in 48.4 overs.

Opener Nahida Khan scored the team's highest 63 off 79 balls smashing eight fours, Aliya Riaz scored made 36 off 68 balls while captain Bismah Maroof contributed 34 off 53 balls. Rumana Ahmed bagged three Pakistani wickets for 35 runs while Salma Khatun took two for 36.

In reply, touring Bangladesh scored 211 for the loss of nine wickets in 49.5 overs, riding on 82-run 3rd wicket partnership by Murshida Khatun and Fargana Hoque.

Among others, captain Rumana Ahmed contributed 31, Sharmin Sultana 27 and Sanjida Islam 20 runs for Bangladesh Women's team. Syeda Aroob Shah and Bismah Maroof took two wickets each conceding 37 and 24 runs respectively.
