Deputy Minister for Education Mohibu Hasan Chowdhury has said the graft allegations made against the Vice Chancellor of Janangirnagar University (JU) are not relevant as the government has yet to release funds for the development of the university.
He came up with the remarks while addressing a press conference organized at the International Mother Language Institute in the city on Saturday on the ongoing demonstration at JU.
The junior minister said, "As no money has yet been released for the development works at Jahangirnagar University, bringing allegations against the VC is irrelevant. How the VC has misappropriated the government money where no money has yet been released?"
Nowfel alleged that a vested quarter is trying to create instability on the campus using the students. We are aware of the conspiracy being hatched in the name of demonstration, he further said.
"If session jam is created anew due to unjust movement, it will be bad for students. Those who are demonstrating, don't want welfare of common students," he said.
