Diner Sheshe -The Asian Age

"My father was a happy-go-lucky man. He was the life of the party wherever we went. You would never find a man as outgoing and hilarious as him! My mother, on the other hand always kept to herself, but worked hard as a clerk in a bank. Both my parents believed that it's important for the women of the house to earn and have her own identity. Tragedy struck our happy little family when my father passed away because of a heart disease.

I was only 6. My mother was devastated. But in no time, she picked herself up...for me. She had no help from her in laws, so she would wake up early, get me ready, pack lunch and drop me to school. Within two years, she got promoted thrice and became the Branch Manager of that bank.

She worked longer hours with the promotion, but still somehow she juggled everything perfectly. She was that human who was closest to being a superhero on this planet for me… I only wanted to be like her when I grew up Today, I'm an Assistant Professor and am financially independent… she gave me everything while growing up and now I want to give her everything, because she still continues to make my life so special.

She always outdoes me. I got married soon after and my mother single handedly paid for my beautiful wedding in Nashik and gave me away as well. I still can't stop smiling when I think about it. So last year, I saved up and took her to Dubai-it was her first International trip. She hadn't been on a decent vacation since she got married-she was only working and taking care of me. She deserved it more than anyone else, and it was so special for the two of us.

Now that I'm married, I keep her values close to me. She's always taught me that no matter where I am and who I'm with, I must always be self sufficient- be it financially or emotionally. So that's what I'm doing-working hard to make a mark for myself and being true to my identity even in my marriage. I want to be like my mom, my superhero with the strongest invisible cape."
