Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque has emphasized on creating social resistance and movement to end violence against women to take the nation forward successfully.
"All of us should raise voice against women repression and work together to address the social crime collectively as only the government or any organization cannot bring any positive result in this regard," he said, reports BSS.
Khaleque was speaking as the chief guest at an inception meeting of Go-NGO efforts project titled 'Encouraging social organizations to prevent violence against women' at Shaheed Altaf Auditorium here on Wednesday evening. Non-government organisations Rupantor, Avash and Rights (Jashore) jointly organized the meeting.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KCC Palash Kanti Bala, Deputy Director of Women and Children Affairs Office Nargis Fatema Zamin, representatives of USAID Sumana Binte Masud, Counterpart of International Chief of Party Kelly Jay Jones and Chief Field Officer of UNICEF, Khulna Dr Nazmul Hasan addressed the meeting as special guests.
