Pompeo greets Bangladesh for exporting PPE to USA -The Asian Age

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has greeted Bangladesh for starting export of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) over COVID-19 pandemic to the US market terming it as crucial international partnership between the two countries.

The USA foreign minister made the remark while retweeting the US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller's tweet over the Bangladesh making PEE export to the USA.

"I join @USAmbBangladesh in congratulating Bangladesh for this significant milestone. International partnerships like these are crucial as companies focus their production on supplying the PPE needed by frontline workers around the world. #COVID19," Pompeo said in retweeting, reports BSS.

On May 25, Bangladesh joined the select group of countries that manufacture world-class, large-scale Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by shipping 6.5 million PPE gowns to American brand Hanes for ultimate delivery to US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Beximco Group, one of the leading business conglomerates of Bangladesh made the first shipment of the supply to the USA on that day.

To mark the occasion, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam joined US Ambassador Miller at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) to see off Beximco's first shipment of PPE to the USA.

"It's remarkable to see that within this short span of two months Bangladesh was able to foray into this very regulated market with such a sensitive healthcare product with just not ten or twenty thousand pieces but six and half million pieces," Alam said at the airport.

On the occasion, US Ambassador Miller said the USA welcomes Bangladesh's world-class large-scale PPE production to the global marketplace.

"The Beximco-Hanes partnership is another great example of how our two great nations are combating the COVID-19 pandemic," Miller said.
