The Covid-19 situation has turned frightening in Bangladesh as the country logged record 231 fresh deaths, the highest number in a single day since the pandemic began, and 13,321 new cases in 24 hours till 8am on Monday.
The total number of infections has now stood at 11,17,310 and death toll is 18,125, according a daily bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). As many as 45,012 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, with the positivity rate 29.59 percent. The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected currently stands at 1.62 percent.
The recovery count rose to 9,41,343 after anotherĀ 9,335 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day. Globally, over 190.50 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 4.09 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
The indomitable Covid-19 has spread to all 64 districts in Bangladesh. The country reported its first case of the virus on March 8, while the first death was recorded on March 18.The novel coronavirus broke out in China's Wuhan city in late December, 2019 and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
